Code Compliance Supervisor: Abel Alberro - CITY
Code Compliance Supervisor Abel Alberro was born in Cuba, and migrated to the United States at the age of six (6) where he grew up in Hialeah, Florida. Supervisor Alberro launched a career in the food truck catering industry owning his first business at the age of 20 providing food delivery services to factory workers and other businesses. He expanded his businesses operations to five (5) food service trucks, and expanded his services through all of Miami-Dade County working in this service based arena for over twenty-five (25) years.
Supervisor Alberro began a career in code compliance in 2007 with the City of Doral where he served for over two (2) years. During this time he obtained a fundamental foundation for the mission of the code compliance profession. After returning to his food service business full-time, Supervisor Alberro re-entered the code compliance profession in 2017 working for the City of West Park. He served the residents, businesses and visitors of West Park for over four (4) years gaining extensive knowledge in this profession to include understanding the need to improve the “Quality of Life” for those he served. Supervisor Alberro holds Levels I, II, III and IV Florida Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) certifications, and has also been certified as a Code Enforcement Professional by FACE marking the highest training level available. Code Compliance Officer: Nadia Taylor-Wellington - CENTRAL
Nadia joined the WMPD in May 2022 after serving in Florida's Department of Corrections as a certified corrections officer. Nadia exhibits passion in her duties, and truly understands the expectations our community has of her, and our code compliance unit. She has shown measured focus with improving the "Quality of Life" for those we serve, and has become vital to the successes of the code unit. Code Compliance Officer: Maria Roque - WEST
Maria joined the WMPD in December 2023 after serving the City of Fort Lauderdale for 31 years. Maria comes to our Island City with a wealth of experience in public service that includes code compliance, planning, licensing and administrative services. Maria possesses Florida Association of Code Enforcement Levels I, II, III and IV certifications. She also holds a certification from the Florida Association of Occupation Licensing Officials. Administrative Assistant: Izabella Mesa – OFFICE
Izabella joined the WMPD in November 2025 following her graduation from college with a bachelor's degree in economics. Izabella is pursuing her career choice in public administration, and a position that presents professional challenges and leverages interpersonal skills, effective time management, and problem-solving expertise. She has a passion for service that supports the mission of our code compliance unit, and her positive energy is a perfect fit to serve our Island City.
