Don has been a resident homeowner in Wilton Manors for the last 14 years, where he lives with his partner of 25 years Marc Martorana, and their two rescues, Dustin and their youngest Ollie. Don has a Bachelor’s Degree from Montclair State University with a Major in Business Administration and concentration in Accounting.
Don spent more than 25 years working as an Accounting and Tax Professional. He has worked for Verizon (11 years) and Scholastic (15 years) where he retired from his position as the Director of State Taxes. Don was responsible for compliance, audits, budgets & state tax strategic planning for all scholastic subsidiaries.
Don served on our City's Planning and Zoning (P&Z) Board, and previously served in leadership roles as the Vice Chair and Board Chair. His tenure on the P&Z Board has helped him to develop a thorough understanding of our city's code. During his six-year tenure on this board, he has NEVER missed a meeting.
Don along with his partner Marc Martorana are huge supporters of our local charities, regularly hosting fundraising events at their home and other venues. They've been giving back to the community for more than a decade. One of the most recent was a Holiday Party for the Pet Project in Wilton Manors, which raised over $22,000 for pets. Over the past year, they've also held events for SunServe, Equality Florida, Plays of Wilton, and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra.
